  1. I’m not sure I would brag about having Matthew McConaughey and Richard Nixon among your fans. On the other hand, I don’t think Razorback fans have anything to brag about right now.

  2. Greg Forster's avatar Greg Forster says:

You can brag that Matthew McConaughey isn’t one of your fans.

  3. Longhorn fans are happy to embrace Matthew McConaughey- a man so dedicated to his craft that he has made the ultimate sacrifice to method acting, as most of his roles involve playing a stoner.

In 1999, Texas upset a high ranked Nebraska squad. MM was arrested late the next morning for disturbing the peace. They found MM in his house with his stereo blaring at 11, nude, playing a set of bongos.

Next week, Orange and White shirts began to appear with the phrase “BONGO NAKED” on them.

“Longhorn fans are happy to embrace Matthew McConaughey.”

Tells you what you need to know, doesn’t it?

  5. MM is a modern day Dean Martin- a master in the art of living. Kinda sorta, anyway.

Willie Nelson has been the undisputed king of central Texas for decades. Winking at certain foibles has long been a part of the Austin culture, even for those of us who do not personally partake of them.

  6. Greg Forster's avatar Greg Forster says:

How unscrupulous of you, trying to tie McConaughey to Dean Martin, since you know I consider Dean Martin to be our first line of defense in the war on terror. πŸ™‚

But it won’t work. Nobody’s ever going to say “those bastards can have my Matthew McConaughey DVDs when they pry them out of my cold, dead hands!”

A couple of MM’s quotes from Dazed and Confused however have gone down into the Jeff Spicoli/Cheech and Chong Stoner Movie Hall of Fame.
