Since Matt started it, already gloating about the defeat of our beloved University of Arkansas Razorbacks by the University of Texas Longhorns in this upcoming Saturday’s football game, I thought I would respond by showing real Longhorn fans giving the Hook ‘Em Horns Sign.

Let us not forget Richard Nixon being a Texas Longhorn fan.
In the words of a sign outside First Baptist Church of Fayetteville in 1969, “Football is only a game. Spiritual things are eternal. Nevertheless, beat Texas.”
I recently read the book “Horns, Hogs and Nixon Coming” about the 1969 shootout. One of the interesting stories in the book was that one of the Arkansas players went on to become the defensive coordinator at UCLA, and bumped into Nixon in the mid 1980s.
He told Nixon that he had played in the game, and Nixon became enthusiatic and recalled the game play by play.
Tricky Dick couldn’t be all bad- he was after all a college football fan!
