On Hiatus

Everything will get very quiet in the education world until the new year, so we’ll be taking a break from blogging for the next week or so.  See you in 2011.

  1. It is not quiet in Florida and the talk against Scott’s ideas grows louder daily. (Remember Florida, the state which had a merit pay bill vetoed and organized grass root campaigns to organize stateiwde protests via social networking?) Ravitch is earning national awards. Florida’s “”miracle is falling apart.
I am confused as to Scott’s inclusion on his transition team associated with Imagine Schools, which takes over underperforming schools and makes them charters. Five of the 11 Ohio Imagine Schools are failing and 3 on academic watch. I think the one in Florida disappeared. I thought this would be what Scott would shun, Why look to Imagine for advice?
If all teachers are making gains, how could Florida pay the salary increase to many teachers when the state has minimal cash and a lawsuit pending already about the minimal funding of education/failure of legislators to make education a paramount duty?
Enjoy your break. We aren’t taking one in Florida!!
