The Blob v. Reform SRN Podcast

(Guest post by Greg Forster)

My first-ever pod-type casting module is now available through the Inter-Net system of tubes via School Reform News. From the NEA $10 billion coke-and-hooker-slush-fund grab to the inevitable subversion of national standards by the blob, it’s a joyful romp through the lighter side of soul-crushing tyranny.

With a “Running Man” reference thrown in for good measure! (But where? I hope people listen to find out!) Good conversation. Thanks again.

I got through on Bob Bennett’s talk show when he had Checker Finn on and asked him about the same thing – what’s to keep national standards from being utterly politicized.

Naturally, he didn’t have an acceptable answer because the obvious truth is that there’s no way to keep something that issues from the political process from being politicized.

Bill turned the tables on me and asked what I’d do and while I know what I’d do – push authority down to the school level, put parents in charge and let nature take it’s course – it’s pretty tough to shove all that into a pithy, radio-talk-show-ready response.

Not a bad interview but the counterbalance to “trickle-down standards” has to be more neatly packaged and understandable. The inevitable result of school independence and parental choice, a defacto national standard, has to be more widely-recognized.
