Another Sensible Voice

In addition to Greg’s piece in PJM, here is another sensible commentary on the new Milwaukee results.

Patrick McIlheran, a columnist in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes, in part:

The fact is that early results are fairly bright for Milwaukee choice schools. They’re certainly not behind, they’re possibly starting to pull ahead, they’re improving MPS, they’re empowering the poor, they’re saving taxpayer money.

One Response to Another Sensible Voice

  1. Shakes's avatar Shakes says:

School Choice is a long hard slog. The school system didn’t break down to the current level in a day and it won’t get back to a high standard overnight.

I think the true results will be generational. Once better educated kids become better educated parents their kids will do even better. Or maybe I just like to use the word better a lot in the same sentence. I do think it is a long term fight though and the results will only become clearer with time.
