Ok, then Wim Nottroth was a peaceful defender of a peaceful call for peace in a town where peace and free speech were under threat of violence.

I’m sure there’s a shorthand term for that, something not so loaded (who knew?) as “pacifist.”

“Pacifist” means holding the view that violence is always immoral. Not everyone who seeks to promote peace is a pacifist – no more than everyone who seeks to promote sobriety is in favor of Prohibition.

Wim Nottroth peaceably resisted the coercive removal of a passage of scripture that called for peace. The scripture was erected after a journalist was murdered and mutilated by a terrorist.

I don’t know his views on terrorism. But I do know that Nottroth sought to protect the free expression of faith and speech, essential elements of peace. The message he was defending was, appropriately, a call for peace.

So Wim Nottroth, at a time when violence threatened his community, was a peaceful defender of a peaceful message against those who opposed the peaceful expression of free speech and faith.

If he’s not a pacifist, then he’s a pacifistic lover of peaceful expressions of peace.

The answers are: 1) their preferred terms of endearment are “snookums” and “sweetie pie,” avoiding all weirdness except having to say those words 2) twice is the limit, just to compensate for being up against a very tough field 3) I may have to kick the butt of anyone who says that Nottroth is a pacifist

Burning questions I have to ask because no one else will dare:

1) Do you think Stan’s wife calls him by his full name when she wants him to do something? “Stan Honey, would you take out the trash?” “Stan Honey, would you please mow the lawn today?” Maybe sometimes they call each other by just their last name? That must get very weird.

2) Can we get some official guidance on nominating the same person multiple times? Is twice the limit or can we keep nominating our favorites until you break down and give them an Al?

3) Who says Wim Nottroth is a pacifist? A smear on his honor!
