It is certanly a stand that ALL CATHOLICS should take and a school with the reputation of CATHOLIC doctrine of equality in all areas should be there to lead. We must continue to voice our opinions, LOUD and CLEAR and WE WILL BE HEARD.

Just to add to the wow factor, Father Hesburgh was a pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement. He was Chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights during its pivotal years in the early 1960s. His credibility in the minority community and among establishment Democrats is unassailable.
