How about if we have a government program to pay people for older houses and then blow the houses up. We'd reduce the oversupply of housing and we'd have some great stock footage for action flicks.

I've tried to explain to people that you cannot A) overpay for a car with a government subsidy, then B) crush the car turning into a pile of scrap metal and C) assume that the program is a complete success adding to the wealth of the country by ignoring the fact that you destroyed a perfectly useable clunker with $4,500 that could have been used to purchase something else.

In the best case scenario the country is out one useable clunker each time the program is used. That is a net loss!

It goes right over some people’s heads. Even after I explain this they still think it’s a success because car sales are up. I’m like, hello, cars are not the only thing you can buy in this country!

On that note, back to education reform.
