I guess I’m not enough of a moron to see that, Chuck. I’ll try harder.

You are certainly right that students, their families, and their communities share in the responsibility to succeed in school. But if we really believed that the widespread failure we observe is due largely to factors outside of school control, then we would come to the conclusion that schools can’t really make a difference. And if that is true, we should stop giving them half a trillion dollars each year, since it obviously wouldn’t do any good.

I don’t believe that and I suspect neither do you. I feel safe in saying that schools share a large part of the failure and can be expected to do better.

The person who wrote this article is ignorant. It is impossible to bleme a public service for not improving 100% of the public. Just like in medical or mental health – there are many that refuse treatment, and without the 10% of effort needed to achieve success, they can’t possibly reach their goal.

Education needs a bail out more than any other industry, any moron can see that.

Well know I know Alberto likes government bailouts, inefficient and expensive public education, and hairy women.

Ford and GM employ only about 500,000 workers in America.

If they go down its no big deal for our economy.

But if the UAW goes down that is a huge blow to union power across the country.
