100% agree- awesome show, incredible characters and dialogue.

Also 100% agree with Patrick about BSG - although they needed to speed up this time between season. Looking forward to the wrap up though.

the New Battlestar Galactica is even better. Even though the suits screwed it up in Season 3 by mandating that each episode be a stand-a-lone show (From season 1 to 2 each episode marched right into the next with lots of 24 like cliff hangers).

Then the writers strike broke up season 4 into two bits and the show was finally cancelled (the end of season 4 starts in January). The show was scripted to run 5 seasons.

Buy Seasons 1, 2, and 3 and I guarantee you will be sitting for hours watching episode after episode.

I've never seen such well written action, drama, and science fiction - ever.

I remember the first time my friends got me to watch it - it was a day or two before Serenity came out, they were singing the song from Jaynestown to each other, and I'd never heard of a word of it. They inform me, in no uncertain terms, that I am going with them on Friday night to the movie. So we go. And then we go again the next afternoon. And then we go back to someone's place that evening and watch clips from the show. And then I borrow the DVDs and spend all of Sunday cooped up in my room watching the entire series. And then the next Friday we go see Serenity again, and I buy the DVDs and watch all the commentaries in order.

So yeah. I hate Fox now.

[...] Jay P. Greene writes about the wonder that is Firefly, and along the way passes along a story: Somebody asked Whedon at a convention whether he had talked to the Sci-Fi network. This was just after Sci-Fi had cancelled the incomparable Farscape while retaining that show with the real-life “psychic” - not a fictional show about a psychic but an actual con artist playing his cruel hoax for a studio audience - and other, similarly un-sci-fi fare.
